GuideStar UK is a charity governed by the charitable objective of supporting and promoting charities and the third sector. It is the first place donors, grantmakers, researchers, companies and members of the public look for free information about the 168,000 registered charities in England and Wales.
In order to maintain a web service that is free for charities to access and free for the general public to use we are developing a range of information and data services that exploit the GuideStar UK knowledge base.
Our data is provided by the Charity Commission's own Central Register of charities; from the narrative and financial data presented in Charity Trustees' Annual Reports, and from the thousands of charities routinely updating their entries on the GuideStar UK web site.
