The company's principal activities, as set out in its Memorandum of Association, cover 3 main areas;

* The relief of suffering and distress amongst persons affected by accidents or natural hazards in the area of the Peak District, the Pennines and elsewhere.
* In furtherance of this, the provision of first aid and rescue facilities.
* Also the provision of training in the skills of mountain rescue and the provision of safe and proper training in moorland and mountain walking.

  • Support West Yorkshire Police by providing specialist search and rescue techniques for missing persons' incidents.
  • Provide search and rescue capabilities for those lost or injured in remote upland areas.
  • Provide first aid and rescue cover for local outdoor fell running/walking events.
  • Assist with local voluntary organisations in an advisory capacity to promote safe, active outdoor activities.
  • Provides a human resource (eg staff/volunteers) to emergency services in times of need.

  • 2006 - Awarded the Queen's Award for Volunteer Services and 2005 was the 40th Anniversary year of the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team, originally being founded in 1965.
  • The Holme Valley Team has moved Headquarters to a new building in Marsden, Huddersfield Sharing premises with the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
  • The Holme Valley Team was the first Mountain Rescue Team in the country to hold Limited Company and Charitable status.
  • The Holme Valley Team was also the first Team to develop and implement a training programme for its Members that was to be adopted nationally by Mountain Rescue for England and Wales.
  • Ongoing fundraising efforts have enabled the Team to replace both it's ambulance vehicles as well as maintain/replace many items of equipment.
